'25 June (Part 2) - theme: Pride Month

Possessive Puckboys by Eden Finley and Saxon James

I wasn't happy that my original pride month book was gay enough. Soooo I typed really super gay book into amazon and this is what I got.

So it's book 8 in the series and I haven't read the rest but I don't think that was important. Each book revolves around a member of the NHL who is gay (or bi, or gay for you etc.). They all tangentially know each other and a gay super league where they hang out as buddies. Each book is a sweet romance with a happy ever after at the end. What's not to like.

This book revolves around the NFL player who bullied the geek in high school..... except now the geek is worth billions and has just bought the NFL team. Then they work out their differences, have sex a few times and fall in love. Standard story of everyday people.

Now, the NFL player was ostensibly straight at the beginning of the book and had historically bullied the queer geeky boy as well as been unsupporting of his younger brother when he apparently came out. So there was some talk of internalized homophobia. Pride month theme completed.

It was fun escapism and sometimes that's all you need in life. The writing wasn't the best I have ever read and reminded me more of fan fic than literature. I can't say I will be heading back for any more from these authors but it was a sweet romance, and very definitely pretty gay.

Hockey romance, except gay 3/10

Staging Outcome: To the BookBox (well it can stay on my kindle)
