Hunger Like a Thirst by Besha Rodell

Finishing off the year with more easy reads! Thanks to Caledon Books and Goodreads for the ARC of this book.

This is totally outside my usual ouevre but I enjoyed it. Besha is a food critic who has written for the New York Times and LAWeekly among others. Her writing is witty, tight and easy to read. You can tell she's a professional.

Although the descriptions of food, kitchens and the people in them were interesting enough, it was the contemplation of life as an expat and the descriptions of life in Durham, North Carolina that I unsurprisingly resonated with.

During the book, and especially in the epilogue, Besha talked about a world I have no idea about. A world of writing about food. There are famous books and writers out there that I had no idea existed. I think I might need to read "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain sometime soon.

Hungry now, time to bake some bread 7/10
