Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty
First off, thanks Caitlin for getting all the Liane Moriarty audiobooks over the last few years and sharing them with me. You probable don't know it but you got me into her.
Now I still think 9 perfect strangers is the best Liane Moriarty book. But this one was pretty good too. Like some of her other books there's that element of mysticism with the fortune teller. We are left wondering if it is real or not for such a long time. I generally steer clear of anything with telepathy, fortune telling, ghosts, spirituality etc. but sometimes I can cope when, like in this book, you are not sure which side of the divide the author stands on. It was just the right amount to get you thinking about fate and destiny and how much we have 'chosen' out lives and how much we are at the mercy of the luck of the draw.
As with other Moriarty books, I loved reading a story set in Australia. It can be such a welcome break from all the US and UK centric books I generally read. The characterisation and internal monologues of the diverse characters is fantastic and the general arc and weaving together of plot are clever.
A good offering. I look forward to the next Moriarty and hope that there will be another perfect strangers or apples never fall.
