Audiobook - Crying in H Mart - Michelle Zauner

I'm really sorry to say, but I didn't get on with this book. Possibly part of the problem was that I listened to the audiobook. Michelle reads this book herself and while that can be powerful especially in a memoir (I'm looking at you Jeanette McCrudy), in this case her west coast drawl just kept annoying me. She sounded bored of her own book!
Second problem was all the endless descriptions of food often using their Korean names which might have been great if I knew much about Korean food. I would say that's a me problem except this book is written in English for a primarily American audience.
I did understand the deep bond that she shared with her mother and how their love of food helped cement that. Although that might be seen as a positive, I'm not actually sure that I felt it because of her writing or because of my feelings about my deceased father.
